Do BBHS just counsel clients that don’t have a criminal record?
No, Criminogenics is only one aspect or approach to our counseling. We have the ability to work with substance use disorders, co-occurring mental health issues, and other behavioral issues. We are the only program in the State of Maryland that treats criminal behaviors and manipulative thought patterns that lead to incarcerations.
Do we prescribe medications?
Our mental health director, Dr. Haber does all medication prescribing at BBHS. We do allow our clients to pick who they would like to use for mental health medications.
Are we an IOP program?
We are not an Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) program. We have opted not to be a Type 50 or a facility. We believe in offering classes at the outpatient level that are specific to our client’s needs. We have the ability to offer up to 8 hours a week of group plus individual sessions. IOP teaches the same information for 9 or more hours to every client and we chose to not operate in this model.
Do we treat Substance Abuse or Mental Health?
We are more of a behavioral program that addresses the behaviors of mental health and addiction issues. Most of the issues that are addressed focus on the core or root of the issues rather than only focusing on the symptoms. Even though we use diagnosis for ruling in or out certain aspect of a person, we try to stay open to the person other than the diagnoses. We specialize in behaviors modification through therapy.
Why does our group practice feel like a private practice?
We pride ourselves in focusing all of our attention on individuals that are in our office. We rarely have more than one client in our offices at any time. We want you to feel like you are the most important person in the building. We have been in business since 2017 and we plan on being around for a long time in the community of Frederick County.
